Configuring your email account post creating it is important so that you can easily access and manage your mailbox. One way to do this is by setting up an email client on your desktop or mobile device.

Setting up the Email Application
The first and foremost step in configuring your email client is to setup the email server. Your email application can be set up to retrieve email from the email server using either IMAP or POP. The choice of protocol depends on the number of devices you wish to access your email.
- IMAP – IMAP is a protocol for incoming mail. This protocol allows users to access their email on multiple devices or if multiple users access the same account. When you read, reply, delete, forward, or manage your email, the changes are made on the server. Additionally, the changes are also synced with your webmail and other IMAP-connected email clients. IMAP is limited to 20 connections per IP address.
- POP – The POP protocol allows users to download and remove their email from the server and store them on your device. This protocol is suited for you, if you want to manage your emails through one main interface, frequently manage your emails offline, or need more storage space than your mail server allows.
Note: If you want to access your email over multiple devices then choose IMAP over POP.
Once you’ve setup your email application, it is important that you encrypt your email connection in order to avoid email exploits and to ensure that your email channel is secure, private and cannot be read by anyone other than the intended recipient, SSL encryption is recommended to secure your email.
